AMERICA | Chandler Hughes, a genius from Texas, has stunned the world after he achieved reading and writing skills at the young age of 1 year and 9 months.
Hughes’s parent stated that they observed him to be very smart at a very young age as his ability to read and write at just below 2 years old was amazing. After learning to read, Hughes was enrolled to school.
“He was in pre-kindergarten but finished on a second-grade reading level, second-grade math level. He joins a special fraternity of people who are essentially geniuses.” his dad told NBC News.
At 6-years-old, Hughes was enrolled to join Mensa – the organization for people with high IQ. According to Mensa, the organization is open to people who score at the 98th percentile or higher on a standardized, supervised IQ or other approved intelligence test.

After taking the test, Hughes scored 99 making him one of the smartest persons on earth.
His dad expressed great delight in Hughes’s progress and look forward to a great future for him.
“Just working on the socializing factor, I think, for us is the next piece. He’s in a great environment where his teachers, his peers all support him. Just seeing how we can take this and increase literacy and math rates in our community, and for him to continue to succeed in life,” he said.
Even as a kind, Hughes has aspirations to become a Medical Doctor as he wishes to help sick people. ”A medical doctor, because I want to help people when they are sick,” he told NBC News when asked about his aspirations.
