Anthony is one of the students of Daniel Ajala Owoseni, a dance instructor and founder of the Leap of Dance Academy located in Lagos, South-West, Nigeria. He was filmed dancing passionately in the rain, a video which went viral.
Following his viral video, is dancing also caught the attention of Cynthia Harvey, the artistic director of the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School of Dance in New York.
Harvey was so impressed by his talent that she tracked him down and offered him a scholarship with the American Ballet Theatre where he will attend a summer school in 2021 and will have the opportunity to live and study in the UK for 9 years.
“A child who shows this much dedication, you just have to help. If there is anything the world has taught us, it’s… that we all have a lot to learn from one another. Providing opportunities for Daniel and Anthony is the right thing to do,” Harvey told People.
Speaking on his award with BBC, Anthony noted that he was awarded two scholarships. “The scholarship for me is going to be like for 5 years, there are another scholarship that I am going to be in New York, it will be for 9 years,” Anthony told BBC.
