14-year-old Nigerian girl wins scholarship to study Medicine at Harvard university, graduates as the best student

An exceptional 22 year old Nigerian Doctor, Boubini Miyensinte Jones-Wonni, has bagged the best graduating student award of the Howard University Medical School, Washington DC, USA, the university attended by US Vice-President Kamala Harris.

Boubini Miyensinte Jones-Wonni, who was notable for being a genius started her educational journey in Nigeria and was the best graduating student in her high school (secondary school) at the age of 14.

After concluding her secondary education in Nigeria, she benefitted from the Special Education Scholarship programme for Niger Delta Students, an award that sent her to the United States of America (USA) to study Medicine and Surgery in 2014.

As a requirement by the American system, she must have acquired a Bachelor’s of Science Degree before enrolling for Medicine and Surgery. She was thereafter admitted into Miles College Alabama, USA where she graduated as the best student of the Department of Biological Science in the university after just three years.

She broke the school’s record by attaining a 100% CGPA of 4.00/4.00 and got the award of a Co-Valedictorian of the graduating students at the age of Eighteen (18).

Immediately after her Bachelor’s of Science Degree, she thereafter moved to Howard University Medical School, Washington DC to commence her study of Medicine and Sugery in 2018. Notable Alumni from this prestigious University include the Vice President of the United States of America, Kamala Harris and the late actor Chadwick Boseman.

Boubini Miyensinte Jones-Wonni during her time at the Howard University Medical School, Washington as a Medical student became a beneficiary of several scholarship award including; the Rana Family scholarship, the E. & M. Prioleau Endowed scholarship, the Dr. Josephus C. and Nellie C. Carr Foundation award, the Auxiliary to the Medico-Chirurgical Society of the District of Columbia Scholarship and the Dr. Louise Maxienne Dargans Fleming Award.

She also got the Student of the Year award for her work with the Anesthesia and Critical Care Interest Group during her study in the school.

By her final year in Medical school, she had become the best student in her class and was nominated by her classmates as a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society as someone who serves as an exemplars in compassionate patient care.

At the end of academic sojourn in Medical school, she graduated as a Medical Doctor at the age of 22, a feat many other Americans could not achieve. She was the youngest graduate in her class of 2022.

She also graduated as the best graduating student in the Howard University Medical School and bagged the prestigious award by being admitted into the Harvard University Medical School for residency training in Internal Medicine. An award given to just two persons from her graduating set.
