15 years after shock of Father’s death, brilliant Nigerian Lady bags first-class degree in Pharmacology

Fifteen years after going through shock because of her father’s death, a brilliant Nigerian lady named Asisat Adegoke has bagged a Pharmacology degree with first-class at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Nigeria.

Asisat bagged her bachelors degree in Pharmacology at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun Nigeria. She graduated with a first-class honors of 4.90 over a possible 5.00 cumulative grade points.

Her outstanding performance earned the overall best graduating student of the university for the 2022/2023 set. Asisat said in an interview that achieving the success was not smooth as she faced some challenges while in school.

Asisat mentioned that she was raised by a single mother after she lost her tragically fifteen years ago. She said her primary struggle while a student was financial challenges, as it was her mother sponsoring her and her siblings through school.

I was emotional because this was a great feat that had never happened in the community. I was happy seeing the whole community celebrating my success. I’ve always been a hardworking Student. No doubt that I put my best into academics,” she said.

“I never expected it because, for every grade I get, I always think or believe someone is above me. I was excited, but I’ll say my family was over-excited upon the announcement of the success, and they all knew it was well deserved as they had known me to be passionate about academics,” she added.

Asisat said instead of the difficulties affecting her it fueled her determination and served as a motivation for her. She stated that she aspires to become financially independent and self-sufficient as a working-class person.



She added that she plans to obtain her PhD before reaching the age of 30. Asisat shared that faith in God helped her succeed in school advising other students not to give up on their dreams. 

”Students should endeavor to pray and commit their academics into God’s hand so that they’ll have faith to accept whatever bad grades might come their way so that they would not be weighed down or felt inferior. They will see it as a reason to put more effort and read because it’s inevitable,” she said.

Asisat said believing in oneself is key. and they should ensure to keep friends who motivate them and always encourage them to do more, friends who will push them to their success adding that her group of friends were part of her success story.

“Most importantly, my junior ones should ensure to put 100% attention and commitment into their academics, attend classes, listen to lectures, study their lecturers, note what the lecturers lay more emphasis on and avoid distraction as much as they can,” she said.
