17-year-old black boy graduates top of his class at US high school, earns $3.4 million in scholarships

AMERICA | A 17-year-old boy named Jaedin Wright has achieved a remarkable feat, earning a $3.4 million scholarship offer to continue his studies at the university.

Jaedin, a student at Ronald McNair High School in DeKalb County, Georgia, is set to graduate among the top 10 students in his class. His remarkable achievements have earned him admiration, not only for his academic excellence but also for his musical talent.

Known around his school as “Mr. $3 Million,” Jaedin shared that the actual total of his scholarship offers is $3,466,716.

The scholarships he has secured are mainly through music. Jaedin plays the trombone and leads the school band as drum major. But beyond music, his academic strength helped him stand out.

He said the financial aid he has secured will allow him to attend college without relying on loans or delaying his education, something he once feared.

“There’s a lot of scholarships out there. People are giving people money.” His advice to other students is to stay committed, apply widely, and never stop believing in what’s possible,” he said.

At a recent school event where students with the highest scholarship earnings were recognized, Jaedin was honored.

As soon as his name was called—”From McNair High School, Jaedin Wright”—the crowd erupted in cheers. Jaedin jumped up and danced his way to the stage, soaking in the joyful moment.

His Band Director, Jared Davis, spoke highly of him. “Jaedin is the definition of when hard work and talent mix together,” he said.

Although he is yet to decide which college to attend, Jaedin plans to study cybersecurity and will deliver the commencement speech at his graduation—a moment that will no doubt inspire his peers.

To students with big dreams, Jaedin offers a simple but powerful message: “All you have to do is be committed to the cause.”
