AMERICA | An exceptional 17-year-old boy named Darrin Francois has won over $3 million in scholarships after graduation from high school.
The young Darrin attended the International High School of New Orleans and after many years of study in the school, he graduated with an outstanding 4.42 GPA.
To further his education, Darrin applied for admission into many universities in the United States. To his amusement, not only did he got accepted, he won over $3.4 million in scholarships from a total of 91 universities and colleges.
He told CNBC Make It that he applied to approximately 100 schools and was offered scholarships from every one of them.
“I just applied, applied, applied. I didn’t know how many it was, so once they started to come through the mail, I was like oh my gosh, this many? Then, they started coming more more and more,” he said.

Aside from being an excellent student, Darrin was also an active participant in extracurriculars. He was his school’s National Honor Society president and took several college courses.
Darrin dedicated his accomplishments to his mother, Bridget, noting that she was not opportuned to attend university but she brought him up to attain success.
“Eighty-three colleges? That is wonderful, that is a blessing from God. I’m very proud, a proud mother to see my son go forward into his success and go forward into his goals,” Bridget said.
Darrin mentioned that the secret to his success has been perseverance and believing in himself. “Just stay true to yourself, if you know you’re going to get in, you’re going to get in,” he said.
He stated that he is looking forward to a school with a diverse student body and a strong criminal justice program as he hopes to be a judge in the future.
Out of all the universities he was accepted, Darrin chose to attend Tuskegee University, a historically black colleges and universities (HBCU)in Tuskegee, Umited States because he feels more welcomed on campus at the black university, not an outsider.
Darrin said he will be majoring in Political Science and plans to minor in mass communication because he thinks they need more black leaders in media and in government.
