AMERICA | A brilliant 17-year-old girl named Aysha Mann has made history by graduating from North Side High School in the United States with a perfect 4.00 grade point average, and she did it in just three years.
Her achievement is nothing short of remarkable, as she becomes the first-ever student in her school’s history to graduate that quickly since its founding.
Mann's Story and How She Did It
Aysha’s academic journey reflects determination, focus, and a strong desire to reach her goals early. She took advantage of the state’s “Move on When Ready Act,” a program that allows high-achieving students to graduate early.
To qualify, students must not only meet regular graduation requirements but also score 21 or above on the ACT, pass a national language proficiency test, and complete two early post-secondary courses—all of which Aysha did with excellence.
Reflecting on her motivation, Aysha said she saw it as an opportunity and she made sure not to miss it.

“Being in Jackson, I didn’t really believe there was much for me. I wanted to start my college experience, and when I found out I had the opportunity, I couldn’t miss it.”
Her journey began in middle school at the Academic Academy at Northeast Middle School, where she earned three high school credits before even stepping into high school. These early efforts gave her a head start that allowed her to complete her high school program faster than anyone else.
Throughout her time at North Side High, Aysha earned numerous recognitions, including the State and Local Honors, Graduation of Distinction, TN Hope Lotto Scholarship, TN Ready Graduate, and TN Scholars Award.
She also received the Community Service Award, Daughters of the American Revolution Award, AP English Excellence Award, Calculus Excellence Award, and the President’s Academic Gold Level Award.
Beyond academics, she was actively involved in several school and community programs, including the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Student Council, Book Club, AP Program, and Governor’s School for the Sciences and Engineering.
She also volunteered with the American Care Center and supported special needs athletics, demonstrating her heart for service and leadership.
Aysha’s intellectual curiosity led her to a month-long program at the University of Tennessee, designed for the top 10% of students in the state.
The program featured intensive three-hour courses and field trips, giving her a taste of college-level learning and research exposure that would later shape her career ambitions.
Looking ahead, Aysha plans to attend Mississippi State University, where she will major in Biomedical Engineering.
Her long-term goal is to pursue a master’s degree and work in a children’s hospital, researching tissue regeneration—a field that could change lives through medical innovation.
