17-year-old girl graduates US high school with good grades, wins $4 million scholarship to 45 universities

A brilliant 17-year-old girl named Ive Jones has earned over 4 million dollars worth of scholarship offers to 45 different universities after graduating from Douglas County High School in the United States with an outstanding grade.

Ive Jones graduated from Apex Friendship High School in North Carolina, United States. Her excellent performance earned her 4 million dollars worth of scholarships to 45 universities and colleges across the United States.

Jones graduated Summa Cum Laude (highest honors) from the Apex Friendship High School. She told Because of them we can she is glad to be achieving the feat as a black girl.

“Being awesome was being authentically me, and I didn’t know that until I saw other Black kids doing it,” she said.

Jones said she worked hard to get to where she is today. She organized a fundraising campaign to help children in Africa who were orphaned as a result of the Ebola pandemic, setting an initial goal of $4,000 and raising nearly $30,000 at the age of 11.

She also organized a health conference in Raleigh, North Carolina to encourage young women and people of color to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Jones said she has always had an interest in the health sector and has focused most of her energy thus far on making an impact there. Her mother, Catherine Jones, said she is very proud of how hardworking she is.

“I’m immensely proud of her. She’s just a hardworking person. Graduation was a moment we’ve looked forward to. But in everything you have to find gratitude. And you know, at the end of the day we’ll still get to celebrate. I’m West African and we find ways to celebrate,” Catherine Jones said.

Jones said she will be studying and taking her talents to Princeton University in the United States where she plans to major in global health on full scholarship.
