An 18-year-old girl named Zyreuna Cousette has achieved remarkable success after emerging as the valedictorian of Aliceville High School in Aliceville, Alabama, United States, with an outstanding 4.23 grade point average.
Her incredible achievement became even more inspiring after she earned over $2 million in scholarships and gained admission into 66 universities across the United States.
Cousette’s journey is one defined by excellence, discipline, consistency, and determination. From a very young age, she developed a mindset focused on academic success and intentionally prepared herself for a bright future.
Cousette's Story and How She Did It
Cousette revealed that her pathway to success did not begin in high school alone, but years earlier, when she was still a child.
“Honestly, I’ve been charting since my 8th-grade year, well, actually since 7th grade. But my pathway started when I was in first grade because I never made a ‘B,’” she said.
Her commitment to excellence became more intentional as she approached high school, where she balanced academics, leadership, extracurricular activities, healthcare training, and community service while still maintaining top grades.
After four years of hard work, Zyreuna graduated as the class valedictorian with a 4.23 GPA and accumulated an astonishing $2,000,047 in scholarship offers from colleges and educational programs.

Reflecting on her achievement on Instagram, Cousette described the moment as the result of years of sacrifice, discipline, and dedication.
“Four years of hard work, growth, and dedication have all led to this moment. From late nights and early mornings to sacrifices and big dreams, every step has been worth it! I’m so grateful for the journey and beyond excited to see what’s next!” she wrote.
Her journey to success extended far beyond the classroom. Throughout high school, Cousette remained highly active in leadership, academics, healthcare programs, and student organizations.
Highlighting some of her accomplishments, she shared on Instagram: “Honors Day Stats:I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me.’ — Philippians 4:13.”
Aside from graduating as valedictorian and earning millions in scholarships, she also completed more than 67 dual enrollment credits through Bevill State Community College and the University of Alabama Early College program.
She was named a Gates Scholarship Recipient, an Honor Graduate, and also received several other prestigious scholarships, including the Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship, O.J. Brooks Scholarship, and Eta Phi Beta Scholarship.
Cousette also built an impressive leadership record during her time in high school. She served as Student Government Association (SGA) President, FBLA President, Beta Club President, and University of Alabama Early College Ambassador.
Also she was the 2025–2026 Alabama One Anchor Award Recipient and 2025 American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Delegate.
Beyond academics and leadership, she remained active in extracurricular activities and healthcare programs.
She became a Certified Medical Assistant and CPR Certified while participating in organizations such as HOSA, Phi Theta Kappa, Upward Bound, and the National Society of High School Scholars.
She was also a four-year cheerleader and served as co-captain for two years. In recognition of her impact and personality, she was voted Most Dependable, Most Likely to Succeed, Beauty & Brains and Best All Around.
Among the 66 universities that offered her admission and scholarships, Cousette eventually chose Howard University, where she will attend fullyu funded as a Gates Scholar.
Sharing the emotional moment of making her final decision, she wrote: “After countless prayers, long nights of reflection, and choosing from 66 incredible schools, deciding where I’ll spend the next four years of my life has been one of the most emotional and difficult journeys I’ve faced.
At Howard University, Cousette plans to pursue a career in medicine and hopes to become an obstetrician-gynecologist. “When one chapter closes, another begins! Just like that, we’re on to the next chapter,” she added.
