An exceptional 18-year-old Lady, Mariana Nijensohn has set a new record after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in English before completing High School in the United States.
Mariana earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Central Florida two weeks before graduating high school as a straight-A student and the best in her class at Windermere High School, Florida in the United States.
She made history as the first in her high school to earn a bachelor’s degree before graduating with a diploma. Mariana said her unusual dual enrollment feat required a workload that sometimes worried her mother and her guidance counselor.
She added that she had an online spreadsheet to keep track of a dizzying array of assignments.“I’m a total nerd. I enjoy school. I just think everyone’s journey is different. This was what was best for me,” Mariana said.

”A lot of my friends think I’m crazy and would never have done this, and they shouldn’t have because it’s not for them,” she added.
Mariana said her decision to start taking dual enrollment college classes started because she was bothered that her class rank at the end of 10th grade, despite top-notch grades, was not very strong.
She transferred to Windermere High School in her second year after a year at a private school after her family had moved to Florida from Massachusetts the summer after her eighth-grade year.
Though she had high school credits from both her middle school and the private school because those schools used different grading systems, the grades from the classes did not carry the extra weight needed for a high-grade point at the public school.
Because she wanted to attend a top university, she decided she was going to make her transcript as strong as possible.
To achieve her goal, Mariana said she took 16 Advanced Placement classes and lots of online dual enrollment classes in both her junior and senior years and the summer in between.
She took classes at the University of Central Florida, Valencia College, the University of Florida, Arizona State University, and the University of Arizona. Initially, Mariana did not plan to complete a bachelor’s degree but when her counselor at the university mentioned she was close to completing one, she went for it.
Mariana mentioned that her spring semester of 11th grade, when she had six classes on campus, and nine college classes online was the most challenging which caused her guidance counselor to ask her mother to check how she was coping with the schedules.
Aside from academics, Mariana also dances on a competitive team, which takes 15 to 20 hours a week and it added more pressure to her complicated school schedule.
Mariana wants to move to the University of Pennsylvania where she plans to start over as an undergraduate to pursue a major in either philosophy, politics and economics as her goal is to beciome a Lawyer.
