20-year-old boy who won Nicki Minaj’s scholarship bags university degree with good grade, celebrates achievements

A 20-year-old boy named Artavion Cook has bagged a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology from the University of Louisiana in the United States after winning a scholarship from American rapper, Nicki Minaj.

Artavion is a beneficiary of the Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS), a college scholarship program that offers reduced tuition for Louisiana residents who attend in-state public schools.

In 2018, the University of Louisiana cut off the TOPS funding and Cook had no one to sponsor his fees. Worried about paying bills, Cook decided to seek help on social media and luckily for him, he came across Nicki Minaj’s tweet.

Nicki Minaj shared a tweet in 2017 offering to help people either pay off their existing student loans or take care of their tuition fees. Cook then decided to reply under the rapper’s tweet explaining his situation to her.

Nicki Minaj then quoted the tweet, promising to pay only on the condition that Cook would graduate with perfect grades.

“Show me straight A’s that I can verify w/ur school and I’ll pay it,” she tweeted.

Cook promised to fufill her wish, with his past grades as prove. After then Nicki Minaj assistant’s messaged him and asked for the fees information. Few days after, his outstanding fees was cleared.

“I tweeted mine and she saw it. She quoted it and said send me the info, I’ll pay it. About a week later, her assistant messaged me from her account and in the next few days, my balance was zero. It really meant a lot to me especially to my mom,” Cook said.

Nicki Minaj is not just a pop icon in the United States, she’s also a philanthropist who has helped around 37 fans in total, paying close to around $18,000 to assist some of them.

Now Cook has bagged his Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology minor with a 4.00 cumulative grade point from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette in the United States.

He took to his Twitter to appreciate the rapper, regarding her as the source of his achievements. He also mentioned that his graduation day was very special because it’s the rappers birthday.

”I can’t believe that I’m actually saying this out loud, but I am an official college GRADUATE! Bachelor of Science in Biology. Chemistry and Psychology minor,” he wrote.

”This day is even more special because @NICKIMINAJ paid my tuition a few semesters ago, and today is her birthday,” he added.

Cook plans to continue his academic journey in Medical school with hopes of getting a high score in the entrance examination so he can get a scholarship.

“Me and my friends are supposed to start studying for the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) next week and hopefully I score well, get accepted into a medical school that will give me a big scholarship so I don’t have to worry about taking out all those loans,” Cook said.
