A 20-year-old boy named Julian Matir has won two million dollars worth of scholarships to 30 universities in the United States to study for his bachelor’s degree.
Julian, a native of the Philippines who is the son of a tricycle driver has defied the odds to earn acceptance from 30 prestigious universities in the United States, earning a total of almost $2 million in scholarships.
He stated that his journey to earning the scholarship began when he discovered a group of aspiring international students on YouTube, who planned to take advantage of the substantial scholarships offered by elite colleges and universities.
Julian said this discovery led him to explore college options that would help him balance his academic and personal goals. He said he wrote over 100 essays, researched interview questions, and how to make a good impression on the alumni interviewers.

Julia said he also compiled the necessary transcript of records and certifications and sought guidance from a college admissions expert on a WhatsApp group. Fortunately, hard work and determination paid off.
He earned acceptance letters from prestigious institutions such as Ohio University, Wesleyan University, Clarkson University, Hofstra University, and the University of Connecticut.
“I am very proud of myself for getting accepted to these highly esteemed schools and I am excited to contribute to our community by bridging the disparity between science and technology,” he said.
Julian mentioned that he will be attending Connecticut College in New London where he will pursue a double major in mathematics and computer science. He said he hopes that his story will motivate others to chase their dreams, regardless of their background or personal experiences.
