A brilliant Namibian Lawyer who goes by the name Patience Masua has been appointed as a Member of the country’s parliament at a record-breaking age of 22.
Patience Masua became the youngest person ever to become a member of Namibia’s parliament and one of the youngest in Africa. She was born in 1999 and graduated with a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Namibia, Africa at the age of 19.
Prior to her appointment as a lawmaker by  President Hage Geingob in April 2021, Patience was an Education Advocate, Youth Activist, and Constitutionalist.
She served as the Secretary-General of Namibia National Students Organization (NANSO) and as Speaker of the Student Parliament of the University of Namibia (UNAM) Student Representative Council (SRC).

Patience Masua also has a Certificate in International Humanitarian Law from the Institute of International and Comparative Law in Africa.

Hon. Patience Masua highlights her struggles in fighting for students, women and less privileged citizens of the country.
“As soon as I came into parliament time, I identified the areas of interest, one being entrepreneurship, youth and skills development and training, participatory democracy, and gender issues with a particular focus on entrepreneurial development for young skilled women,” she explained to BBC.
