A 24-year-old woman named Tiana William has made her father, a lawyer and a judge, proud by graduating from Rutgers University’s Law School, following in his footsteps.
Tiana obtained her bachelor’s degree in Law at Temple University, Pennsylvania in the United States before she proceeded to Rutgers Law School, New Jersey where she earned a Doctor of Law (Juris Doctor).
Sge took to her Linkedin to celebrate the achievement of earning the degree stating with pride that she was hooded by her father. ”Thrilled to share that I have graduated from Rutgers Law School and was incredibly blessed to be hooded by my father,” she said.
Tiana said the academic journey was challenging for her but it was fulfilling at the same time. She wrote in her Instagram that it took so much hard work and dedication to achieve the feat at her young age.

The Rutgers university celebrated Tiana and her father, Chief Judge Dion J. Williams, who graduated from Rutgers College in 1988 and Rutgers Law School in 1992, for witnessing the honor of hooding his daughter .
They stated that the event was significant because it marked the achievement of Tianna’s lifelong dream and represented a proud moment for her father.
”Happy hashtag#FathersDay! To mark the occasion, we’re sharing the story of a living legacy nearly two decades in the making. Newark Municipal Court Chief Judge Dion J. Williams RC’88 RLAW’92 hooded his daughter, Tianna Williams ‘24, at hashtag#RutgersLaw Newark’s commencement last month,” according to the statement on Linkedin.
Another exceptional thing about Tiana’s achievement was that she graduated from Law School alongside her childhood best friend of 13 years. She said growing up together, they shared dreams, challenges, and countless memories.
She added that seeing them stand side by side, having accomplished one of their biggest goals, is a testament to their dedication, hard work, and the support they have given each other.
She stated that their milestone is not just a personal achievement, but a shared victory that reminds them of the power of friendship and the importance of community
Tian said she is grateful for the love and support she had along the way most especially from her parents who were her biggest fans and were there to pick her up whenever she was down.
She also thanked her siblings for keeping her motivated along the way and always supported are. Tiana said she is grateful to have accomplished the feat of joining the 5% of lawyers that are black and also 2% that are black women in the United States.
