AMERICA | A determined young woman named Destiny Stovall has finally achieved her dream of becoming a licensed medical professional in the United States after passing her licensure examination on her third attempt.
Destiny, who earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, has now officially become a licensed Physical Therapist, overcoming a difficult and emotional journey marked by perseverance, faith, and patience.
Destiny's Story and How She Did It
Destiny began her higher education journey at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where she studied Biology and graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors in 2022.
Beyond academics, she remained highly active on campus, serving in multiple leadership and extracurricular roles, including Student Athletic Trainer, Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Honors College, and as a Secretary in student leadership programs.
She was also a Student Government Association member, Freshman Class Treasurer, and a Recipient of STEM Academy scholarships. Her undergraduate years reflected both academic excellence and leadership development.

After completing her bachelor’s degree, Destiny pursued her dream of becoming a Physical Therapist at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, one of the leading institutions in her field.
There, she continued excelling academically and in leadership, eventually serving as President of the Black Student Association, supporting diversity and community engagement on campus.
In 2025, she successfully earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, celebrating what she described as a journey filled with sacrifice, late nights, early mornings, tears, prayers, and victories.
“I’m officially a Doctor of Physical Therapy! This journey has been anything but easy, but through every challenge, God remained faithful… The future is bright, and this is only the beginning, she shared on Facebook, celebrating her graduation.
However, after earning her degree, Destiny faced one final hurdle: the licensure examination required to practice professionally.
Despite her strong academic background, she failed the exam on her first and second attempts, leaving her feeling stuck while her peers moved forward in their careers.
Her third attempt was scheduled on her birthday, adding emotional pressure to an already stressful situation.
She later revealed that the experience deeply tested her faith and confidence.
“For several months, I felt like my life was on pause because I failed,” she shared. “My life had always been step after step, goal after goal, and suddenly, I didn’t pass the one thing I needed to move forward.”
Through the difficult period, Destiny said she learned that setbacks do not define one’s future. She reflected that delays do not mean denial and that her journey taught her humility, patience, and trust in God’s timing.
Destiny stated that her middle name, Subira, which means patience is rewarded in Swahili, took on a new meaning for her during this season. “This delay wasn’t punishment; it was preparation,” she explained.
Eventually, her perseverance paid off. Destiny successfully passed the exam and proudly announced:
“I am officially a LICENSED PHYSICAL THERAPIST! Not because it wasn’t a struggle, but because I didn’t give up.”
Destiny credited her success to faith, resilience, and the support of family and friends who stood by her through the difficult moments.
