A 26-year-old African lady named Vee Kativhu has made history as the youngest person to earn an honorary doctorate at the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom.
Vee was awarded an honorary degree at the University of Bradford, England in the United Kingdom. She took to Linkedin to celebrate an achievement stating that she also set a record as the youngest honorary doctor in the institution.
”ITS OFFICIAL, I AM A DOCTORRRR!!!! yesterday I made history & became THE YOUNGEST PERSON TO EVER RECEIVE AN HONORARY DOCTORATE DEGREE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF BRADFORD,” she said.
Vee stated that her younger self would have been surprised to see her accomplishment considering all the difficulties she faced. She said that her journey from Zimbabwe to earning an honorary doctorate in the United Kingdom is an honor for her.

Reflecting on her journey, Vee said she is proud of her accomplishments at that young age. She noted that she started by working at McDonald’s during her A-levels and studying during breaks to graduate from Oxford University.
After which she proceeded to pursue a Master’s degree at Harvard during the global pandemic while also writing a book and now she was awarded an honorary doctorate while she is still working towards a PhD in Education Policy at 26.
Vee initially shared on her Linkedin that while in high school, her teacher had advised her not to seek undergraduate admission to the University of Oxford, England owing to an assumption that she was not good enough.
Five years after her teacher made the statement, she bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, and a Master’s Degree in International Education Policy from Harvard University, Massachusetts, United States.
Vee is currently studying for a PhD in International Education Policy at Claremont Graduate University in the United States through a fully funded scholarship that she earned from the Youth Mentoring Action Network (YMAN). She was the first-ever recipient of the scholarship.
”Vee is a Girl’s Education Activist and a Young Leader for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). She was named a Diversity Champion by the Vice Chancellor of Oxford University while she was in the university.
