AMERICA | 26-year-old , Tanasha Wyckoff from Birmingham has made her family proud by becoming the first nurse in her family, earning her Bachelor of Nursing from Troy University in 2021.
Now, she’s taking her dreams even further, having been accepted into the Doctorate of Family Nurse Practice program at Baylor University in the United States.
Tanasha's Story and How She Did It
For Tanasha, this milestone is not just an academic pursuit but the continuation of a heartfelt calling.
Reflecting on her journey, she described her years as a travel nurse as a “whirlwind” of long shifts, demanding days, and deeply fulfilling moments that reminded her why she chose nursing.
“Nursing isn’t just a job for me; it’s a calling that pushes me every day to be better, stronger, and more compassionate,” she wrote on Facebook.
Since graduating, Tanasha has worked in top hospitals across the country, embracing each assignment as an opportunity to learn and grow.

“Every patient’s story reminds me why I chose this path,” she shared. “Each experience teaches me resilience, empathy, and perseverance, even during the toughest days.
Over the past two years, Tanasha’s career as a travel nurse has also allowed her to build friendships and memories that have strengthened her passion for healthcare. Now, as she begins her Doctorate at Baylor University, she describes the transition as a new chapter in her lifelong mission to make a difference in family healthcare.
“Through every challenge, God has been with me, guiding me and giving me strength,” she said. “I’m so grateful for the doors He has opened and for everyone who has supported me along the way.”
