An exceptional 26-year-old Nigerian man named Emeka Nelson has invented a generator that runs on water despite not having a formal education or engineering certification.
Emeka who is a secondary school graduate single-handedly developed a powered generator that works with water. He said the generator has a maximum capacity of 1,000 Watts and a voltage ranging between 220 and 240.
He mentioned that a litre of clean water can power the generator and supply energy for six hours adding that it powered his two-bedroom apartment in Anambra, Nigeria.
Emeka said that he worked on the project for 16 years in an interview with BBC. He menyioned that the invention is environmentally friendly and also addresses safety concerns associated with traditional gasoline generators.

Speaking about what inspired him to start the invention, Emeka said he lost a friend at the age of 12 as a result of a generator fumes incident. He stated that it drove him to work diligently until he developed an alternative to the use of gasoline generators.
Nelson has also invented a machine that converts waste into petrol and diesel, as well as into tiles and roofing sheets.
“This generator that uses water instead of petrol that fuels that sometimes is almost as expensive as gold does not entirely render petrol useless. But if you no longer have to worry about petrol, why not,” he said.
In a similar story, Four exceptional Teens, Duro-Aina Adebola Akindele Abiola, Faleke Oluwatoyin, and Bello Eniola, from Lagos, Nigeria invent urine urine-powered generator that can produce electricity.
Duro-Aina Adebola, a 14-year-old teen said the idea of using urine to produce electricity started when she read an article about a family of five who lost their lives as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning as they inhaled fumes emanating from their generator while asleep.
She said she was disturbed by the incident thinking about how she could help to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future concluding that the way out was to find another power source that does not release carbon monoxide. Read more about them HERE.
