A 28-year-old African lady named Oumie Kuyateh has bagged a doctorate degree at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.
Kuyateh obtained her PhD in Microbial Genomics at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. She took to LinkedIn to share her achievements naming herself with her academic qualifications.
She stated that she began pursuing a PhD degree at the age of 23, dedicating five years to rigorous academic work. Kuyateh said she feels thankful to commemorate the achievement with her loved ones.
”Reintroducing Dr Oumie Kuyateh, BSc, MRes, PhD. Last week, I officially graduated with a PhD in microbial genomics from The University of Edinburgh. I started my PhD at 23 years old and after five years of hard work, I’m grateful to celebrate with my family and friends,” she said.

Kuyateh said the academic journey was an exciting five years full of hard work and resilience. She described the experience of finishing and defending a PhD in Bioinformatics as incredible, especially considering her origins in a wet lab background.
She said her thesis focused on Viruses and microorganisms associated with a wild community of Gambian Drosophilidae. Kuyateh expressed her gratitude to her supervisors for their endless support and to her examiners for an intellectually stimulating conversation.
In another story, a 27-year-old Nigerian lady named Abisola Fabunmi has bagged a doctorate her Marketing and was awarded the best doctorate student of Covenant University, Nigeria.
Abisola obtained her doctorate in Marketing with a specialization in Brand Equity, Customer Loyalty, and Customer Relationship Management at Covenant University, Ogun Nigeria. She bagged the degree with a 4.83 cumulative grade point.
