29-year-old African man bags PhD in Aerospace Engineering, celebrates success

A 29-year-old African man named Jdiobe Muwanika has bagged his doctorate degree in Aerospace Engineering at Oklahoma State University, in the United States.

Muwanaika, a Ugandan graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Aerospace Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He faced significant challenges growing up however, he remained determined in the pursuit of his education.

Upon graduating from high school in Uganda, Muwanaika proceeded to Oklahoma State University, United Srare where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2019.

He went on to bag a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering in 2020,before earning his doctorate in Aerospace Engineering at the same Oklahoma State University.

“Throughout my life, I have been driven by a passion for science, engineering, and innovation, dedicating myself to addressing real-world challenges and contributing to the advancement of the aerospace industry,” he said.

His research focused on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with ducted counter-rotating propellers, which have the potential to revolutionize the design and performance of UAVs, making them quieter, more efficient, and more versatile.

Muwanaika currently works as an aerospace engineer in research and development at The Boeing Company, one of the world’s largest aerospace companies. He mentioned that his becoming an engineer has always been his dream which was why he worked hard to make it a reality.

“I have dreamed of being an engineer while growing up and worked hard to make that dream a reality,” he added. Looking forward, Muwanaika said he plans to collaborate with institutions and organisations in his home country, Uganda so as to share his knowledge with them.

As a Ugandan, I am deeply committed to giving back to my home country, and in the future, I plan to collaborate with Ugandan institutions and organizations to share my knowledge and expertise in aerospace engineering,” he said.
