He graduated from the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) with a first-class bachelor’s degree in Mineral Engineering. Two years later, he was accepted with scholarships by every university he applied to.
Reflecting on his journey, Patrick spoke about the challenges he faced as a child. He recounted how his grandmother struggled to pay his school fees and examination fees.
To help support her, Patrick sold kerosene and washing soap to cover his school expenses. He shared that he was frequently sent home for unpaid fees, but his determination never wavered.
As a result of his intelligence and commitment to serving in his local church as a young boy, Patrick received a scholarship (KB’s Foundation Scholarship) from the proprietor of his school, covering his education from Primary 5 through Junior High School.
He maintained excellent academic performance throughout Senior High School and university, graduating with honors. In addition to his first-class degree, Patrick was recognized as the Best Disciplined Graduating Student at UMAT.
He also served as President of the Students’ Christian Council (SCC) and was the class representative for four consecutive years in the Mineral Engineering Department.
After graduation, Patrick placed his faith in God, hoping for just one scholarship to further his studies. Instead, he received multiple offers including:
Partial Scholarships from George Washington University and Michigan Technological University in the United States, Partial Scholarships from the University of Aberdeen and Dundee University in the United Kingdom.
Patrick also received a Full Scholarship from the Japan University of Science and Technology and a Full Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to study at three prestigious European universities: Ghent University (Belgium), TU Freiberg (Germany), and Uppsala University (Sweden).
Ultimately, Patrick chose the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to pursue the SINReM International Master of Science program across these three institutions. Reflecting on his journey, Patrick expressed his gratitude, saying that looking back on where he started, he feels incredibly blessed to have come this far.
Currently, Patrick is pursuing a PhD in Energy and Mineral Engineering with a concentration in Mining and Mineral Process Engineering at Penn State University in Pennsylvania, United States.
