AFRICA | A young African man wins PhD scholarship to US university without having masters degree, set to study in New York.
A brilliant young African man named Noah Wumborbi has been awarded a full PhD scholarship to study in New York, United States, without holding a master’s degree.
Noah earned the scholarship to pursue a doctorate at Cornell University, New York, one of the prestigious Ivy League schools in the US. He shared his achievement on Twitter, expressing that his academic journey has been driven by his faith in God.
Before securing this opportunity, Noah graduated with a first-class degree in Geography and Resource Development, as well as Political Science, from the University of Ghana.

Despite facing challenges, such as his unsuccessful bid to become the Student Representative Council president in 2022, Noah remained focused on his academic goals and achieved outstanding results.
Reflecting on his academic journey, Noah expressed deep gratitude, stating that God had guided him through every setback he encountered.
Growing up in a village with limited opportunities, Noah learned that his greatest source of strength and advantage was his faith in God. He shared that from 2016, he received free primary and junior high school education sponsored by the Ghana government.
He later earned a Ghana government scholarship for his senior secondary school education from 2016 to 2019.
For his undergraduate studies, Noah was awarded the Tullow Scholarship, which fully covered his expenses. Now, he has earned another fully funded scholarship for his PhD, and he hopes his story will inspire those who feel they have no one to support them.
Noah will be studying Government at Cornell University, focusing on International Relations. He is excited about this new chapter and looks forward to contributing to the global academic community through his research.
