AFRICA | A determined African woman named Palesa Letsoalo has achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a medical doctor after earning a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.
Celebrating her success on LinkedIn, Palesa shared how graduating as a medical doctor marks the realization of a dream she has nurtured since childhood. “This moment is the culmination of years of hard work, sacrifice, and unwavering determination,” she wrote.
Palesa’s academic journey began at the University of the Free State, where she earned her first bachelor’s degree in Physiology and Genetics. She then pursued her medical degree at Witswatersrand, overcoming challenges with resilience and determination.

Palesa acknowledged that her success was not achieved alone. She dedicated her accomplishment to her husband, Andrew Nyanhete, whom she described as her greatest supporter.
“My husband has been my rock, standing by me through long nights, early mornings, and everything in between. His belief in me kept me going,” she shared. In a heartfelt tribute, Andrew celebrated his wife’s achievement.
“Can you do big things from a small township like Bochabela? My wife, Dr. Palesa I. Letsoalo, says YES! Through determination, resilience, and unmatched hard work, she has achieved this monumental milestone. Graduated from Medical School. Well done, Dr. Letsoalo-Nyanhete —you inspire me,” she said.
Palesa offered words of inspiration to anyone pursuing a dream that may seem out of reach. “Perseverance pays off, and the journey is as meaningful as the destination. Keep pushing, no matter how far away your goal feels,” she said.
As she embarks on the next chapter of her journey, Palesa hopes to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others through her work in medicine.
