A determined young man named Abba Usman has finally achieved his dream of becoming an engineer after overcoming 12 years of delays and challenges at the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Kano, Nigeria.
Abba successfully earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Electrical Engineering and was recently inducted by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) during the university’s latest engineering induction ceremony.
His achievement marks the end of a long and difficult academic journey that began in 2014 when he gained admission into the university.
Abba's Story and How He Did It
Abba’s path to graduation was filled with multiple academic setbacks, administrative delays, and disruptions that stretched his studies far beyond the expected duration. Despite the challenges, Abba remained focused and refused to abandon his dream.
After more than a decade of perseverance, he officially graduated with a Pass degree in Electrical Engineering in 2026, proving that determination and resilience can eventually lead to success.
University officials described his induction as a strong testament to perseverance and encouraged students facing academic difficulties not to give up on their goals.
Speaking after the ceremony, Abba said the achievement was worth the wait and expressed gratitude to his family, lecturers, and everyone who supported him throughout the difficult journey.
He also pledged to use his engineering knowledge and training to contribute to Nigeria’s infrastructure and technological development.
