AMERICA | An amazing triplets from Aurora, Colorado named Mariah, Mercy, and Samuel Addai-Opoku have achieved a remarkable feat, graduating from Hinkley High School in the top ten of the class of 2024.
The triplets also earned associate degrees from the Community College of Aurora at the same time as their High School graduation.
The triplets’ parents, Kwasi and Margaret Addai-Opoku, had in the 90s immigrated from Ghana to Colorado to seek better opportunities for their family, never expecting that their children would make such historic accomplishments.
At the time when they got to the United States, they had a tough time adapting to the new environment. Magaret said remembered their first day of kindergarten, when she received a call from the teacher soon after leaving them, reporting that the triplets were distressed.

They however adapted quickly to the environment and became well-loved by their classmates and teachers.
“They are wonderful kids and very respectful, very humble. And I’m not saying that because they are my children, but that’s what we get from the teachers,” Margaret said.
Mariah and Mercy went on to earn Associate of Arts degrees, while Samuel completed an Associate of Science degree.
Alongside their rigorous academic schedules, they excelled in extracurricular activities, with Mariah and Mercy playing volleyball and Samuel participating in soccer. The triplets also held part-time jobs, balancing their busy lives with admirable dedication.
The triplets credit their success to their close relationship with each other and their parents.
According to their mother, they were originally thought to be twins, it was a surprise to their mother to learn at 24 weeks that she was carrying triplets. Despite the initial shock, the family embraced them as blessings and raised the children with immense love and support.
“It’s always been a nice comfort to have because we can all relate with each other,” Mariah said.
She also shared the valuable guidance their parents provided. “They always just told us that education is power. When you have an education, you can do whatever you want,” Mariah added.
As they prepare to head to college, the siblings plan to stay close despite attending different schools. Mariah and Mercy will attend Colorado State University in Fort Collins, with Mariah pursuing degrees in theater and psychology and Mercy studying interior design and architecture.
Samuel will enroll at the University of Colorado in Boulder, majoring in aerospace engineering with the support of a $10,000 annual scholarship from the Sachs Foundation. Additionally, the Addai-Opoku triplets received scholarships from the Gear Up program, which supports students in furthering their education.
