The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, formerly the National Maritime Authority is responsible for regulations related to Nigerian shipping, maritime labor and coastal waters. The agency also undertakes inspections and provides search and rescue services.
The World Maritime Day is celebrated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and by member states globally to focus attention on the importance of shipping safety, maritime security, marine environment, sea farers and other specific aspects of IMO’s work.
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Essay competition is organized to commemorate the 2022 World Maritime Day with the theme ‘Seafarers at the Core Of Shipping’s Future’.
The essay competition is designed to create awareness of the tremendous opportunities in the maritime sector and engender the interest of Nigerian youths to pursue careers in it.
