The 2022 PENGASSAN National Essay Competition is open to Nigerian students and offers ₦6Million Cash Prize to the top 12 winners.
Several other scholarships are available in the United States, Germany, United Kingdom and Canada that offers full scholarships and monthly allowances. Here are some suggestions you should check out;

The PENGASSAN National Essay Competition is a stimulating, encouraging and social responsibility initiative of PENGASSAN to drive the development of creative writing amongst secondary school students.
The Competition is open to Secondary school students; the newly admitted JS1 students and the returning SS1 students in Nigeria.
STAGE 1:
The general stage where every participant for each category submits an essay based on our given topics for grading. Each participant is required to research his or her topic and write accordingly.
- JS1 Category
- Topic: Clean Energy for a better, greener future in Nigeria
- Length: 200 Words
- Format: Handwritten essay written in English Language only
- SS1 Category
- Topic: The effects of non-functional refineries on Nigeria’s energy utilization
- Length: 450 Words
- Format: Handwritten essay written in English Language only
STAGE 2:
The top winners from each category’s stage one will be contacted to participate in the stage 2. These selected candidates will then partake in a live online essay writing competition.

Requirements:
To be eligible for the Competition, you must:
- Be a Nigerian student in JS1 or SS1
- Be currently residing in any of the 36 states of Nigeria
- Be between 10 – 12 years old for JS1 category
- Be between 14 – 16 years old for SS1 category

Method of Application
Applicants should note that plagiarism is an automatic disqualification and Co-authorship is not allowed.
Registration and essay submission will take place simultaneuosly.
