APICA Summer Internship Program is to provide college students and recent graduates who are dedicated to public service a substantive, meaningful work and educational experience in the California State Legislature, with a goal towards creating and promoting a growing cohort of Capitol staffers and advocates.
The Asian Pacific Islander Capitol Association (APICA) is a non-partisan, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization comprised of legislative staffers, advocates, and other API professionals based in the State Capitol community of Sacramento, California.

Requirements:
- Current college student or recent graduate who is at least 21 years old at the time the internship begins.
- Available to work full-time for the duration of the 10-week internship program.

Duration and Reward
- Interns receive a stipend of $4,960 for the ten-week period. These funds will be provided twice a month, contingent on the successful completion of the program and its academic components.
- Week-long orientation, professional and skill development sessions, dedicated mentorship, and access to the APICA network of staff and elected officials

- Prompt: Please discuss and demonstrate your passion for public policy and level of interest in eventually working as a staffer in the Capitol.

- Please proofread your statement, as grammatical or typographical errors will weaken your application.
- Resume, not to exceed one page.
- Official or unofficial transcript(s)Â from each college or university attended.

Selection Process
- Application deadline:Â February 24, 2023 at 11:59pm PST.
- Virtual interviews for select candidates:Â Friday, March 31 to Friday, April 7, 2023.
- Acceptance notification:Â Monday, April 10th, 2023.
- Internship start date:Â Monday, June 19th, 2023.
- Internship end date:Â Friday, August 25th, 2023.
- There is optional extension for interns seeking employment in the Capitol community, subject to agreement with the host office and the APICA board.
