A brilliant African Lady named Angela Tabiri has become a scholar with a renowed knowledge of mathematics after bagging multiple degrees in it. Her scholarly abilities earned her a global mathematics award in the United States.
Angela, a Ghanaian began her academic journey at the University of Ghana where she earned a bachelors degree in Mathematics degree with honors. After graduation, she proceeded to earn postgraduate degrees in the same course.
She obtained a masters degree in Mathermatical Sciences at the African Institute of Mathematics, Ghana and a recent Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics at the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom.
Angela’s exceptional abilities in Mathematics earned her the World’s Most Interesting Mathematician by The Big Internet Math-Off.

The Big Internet Math-off contest ran for 24 days in the United States and it recognized Angela for her groundbreaking work and innovative approach to solving complex mathematical problems
Angela was among 16 mathematicians from around the world who competed by demonstrating the fun, interesting, and relevant aspects of math, according to Ghana’s Asaase Radio.
Sharing her achievement on her Linkedin, Angela thanked everyone in different African languages for their support, and encouragement and for voting for her through every category.
”We won! It is official. Angela Tabiri (#mathsqueen) is: The World’s Most Interesting Mathematician 2024. This was courtesy of your unflinching support from the first round up to the fourth round. Medaase! ” she said.
Angela studied for her PhD through the Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship in 2015. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in Mathematics from the international Centre for theoretical physics, Italy.
She is now a Research Associate focused on Quantum Algebra and the Academic Manager for the Girls in Mathematical Sciences Program (GMSP) at AIMS Ghana, which nurtures the talents of secondary school girls in the mathematical sciences.
Angela also organizes Science Slam Ghana, a science communication event for researchers to present their work to a lay audience in an engaging way. She is also the founder of Femafricmaths, an NGO promoting female African mathematicians.
Through Femafricmaths, Angela interviews inspiring female mathematicians and trains them for hands-on outreach activities for high school students in Ghana, including Science in Tents, National STEAM Day, and Y3p3maths.
