A brilliant African man named Keamogetswe Ramongane has earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from the University of Johannesburg in South Africa.
Looking back on his journey, Keamogetswe shared in a LinkedIn post that he graduated from high school in 2018 with exceptional results, scoring 100% in Accounting and 97% in Mathematical Literacy, which placed him among the top ten students in his school.
His outstanding result also earned him recognition as the second top learner in Quantile 2. In 2019, he began his studies in the BCom Accounting Extended Program at the University of Johannesburg under the Orange Carpet Programme.

Having come across the story of a scholar who had obtained distinctions from matric to her final year in his early university years, Ramongane was determined to achieve the same feat. And that he did.
In 2022, after four years of consistent hard work, he completed his BCom degree cum laude, earning distinctions in all 36 modules. However, his academic journey did not stop there.
In 2023, without any form of funding, he took a bold step and registered for the Bridging Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (BCTA). He described that period as one of the toughest of his life, both academically and financially.
Ramongane kept getting rejection letters, and he found himself at one of his lowest points. Still, he was determined to move forward, self-funding his way and pushing through just to qualify for the prestigious Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA).
By 2024, he had qualified to register for the Bachelor of Accounting Honours, which included the four CTA modules and an additional research component.
But registration was challenging. Outstanding fees from the BCTA program made it difficult, and even after he managed to enroll, he faced another unexpected challenge. For the first time in his life, he was failing.
For someone who had always been an overachiever, this moment was very hard for Ramongane. He found himself writing supplementary exams for almost every module, and some of the exams were shifted to the following year.
He recalled how studying in December, through Christmas and New Year’s, was far from ideal. But he refused to let go of his dream.
In January 2025, he sat for his supplementary exams and successfully passed them all. Not only did he complete his Bachelor of Accounting Honours, but he also emerged as the top student in the research component.
Ramongane expressed deep gratitude to everyone who stood by him—friends, family, and supporters who believed in him, especially during the moments when he struggled to believe in himself.
He also thanked those who made it possible for him to fund his studies and continue his journey. For Ramongane, this achievement is more than a degree, it is proof that determination, faith, and perseverance truly pay off.
