A brilliant Nigerian Ecologist known as Hammed A. Akande on social media has celebrated becoming a permanent resident of Canada after migrating to the country with the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship.

Hammed Akande graduated with a First Class Degree in Wildlife Management from Osun State University, Nigeria in 2016. He won the Mcgill University Mastercard Foundation Scholarship in Canada allowing him to enroll for a Master’s Degree in Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) between 2018 and 2019.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at McGill University, Canada is a yearly award sponsored by the Mastercard Foundation to fund students from across the world to study a Masters Degree at the McGill University, Canada. The Mastercard foundation also sponsors educational grants in several other universities in the UK, USA, Canada and also in Africa.

Having bagged a Master’s Degree from the McGill University, Hammed Akande enrolled for his PhD Degree at Concordia Univsersity, Montreal, Quebec, Canada with a focus on Spatial Ecology.
He also works simultaneously as a Graduate Research Assistant at Concordia University in Canada. After spending three years and four months in Canada, Hammed Akande finally becomes a permanent resident of the country.
Celebrating his latest achievement, Hammed Akande said: “Today (after 3yrs & 4months), I became a PERMANENT RESIDENT OF CANADA- Alhamdulilah”
He narrated that he moved into Canada with only $100 and a Fully Funded Mastercard Foundation Scholarship in 2018.
“As someone who moved to this country with $100 (and on a Fully-funded Scholarship), this is really a great deal for me & my family,” he posted on Linkedin.
He thanked everyone involved in his success story including his PhD Supervisor at Concordia University.
