Brilliant Nigerian Lady bags Law degree with first-class, becomes the first lawyer in her family

A brilliant Nigerian woman named Favour Uka has achieved a remarkable first-class Law degree from Afe Babalola University in Nigeria. This achievement sets a new milestone in her family as she becomes the first ever to graduate in law.

Favour Uka obtained her LL.B with first-class honors at Afe Babalola University located in Southwest Nigeria. She took to Linkedin to celebrate her success stating that after her call to bar, she will be the first ever lawyer in both her immediate and extended family.

”I obtained a first-class law degree from Afe Babalola University. After my call to the bar, I’ll be the first lawyer in my family (nuclear and extended),” she said.

Favour mentioned that reaching the milestone as the first lawyer in her family gives her great joy and encourages her to strive for excellence. She expressed her gratitude to God for the five-year journey adding that it was challenging but she was able to pull through with God’s help.

Favour stated that during her undergraduate years, she had the privilege to serve in the Student Representative Council, the Law Student Society Chamber, and the Literary & Debating Society.

She mentioned that the valuable experience has had a positive impact on her current self, and she deeply appreciates it. Favour said she is thankful to everyone who in one way or another contributed to her success adding that she is grateful for their support, encouragement and belief in her.

Favour said she is excited about the journey ahead and she plans to replicate and surpass this achievement at the Nigerian Law School. She added that the journey has just started and she is prepared and empowered for whatever challenges she may face.




In another story, a young African-American lady named Lauren Rolfe set a record as the first lawyer in her family after she was sworn into the Florida bar in the United States.

Lauren Rolfe bagged her first degree in Political Science and Criminology from Hofstra University in the United States before moving on to obtain another degree in Law from the Florida State University College of Law, United States.

While in the College of Law, she was an active student in all areas. She was a member of the Moot Court, President of the Black Law Student Association, and a Legal Writing Teaching Assistant.
