A brilliant Nigerian lady named Promise Ayomide Adekola who gained admission into Cyprus International University at the age of 14, has bagged two Master’s degree and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the age of 20.
Promise Adekola bagged her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Cyprus International university. She also holds dual masters degrees from Cyprus University and University of Rome Tor Vergata in Cyprus.
Promise gained admission into Cyprus university at the age of 14 after meeting the educational requirement of obtaining five credits in the West African Examination Council (WAEC)
“I just finished my PharmD at Cyprus International. In 2017, at the age of 14, I left Nigeria. My admission was based on passing the necessary 5 credits in WAEC,” she said.

She mentioned that she does not regret making use of the opportunity to study in Cyprus stating that it was her parents who recommended it to her because of its favorable environment and affordable tuition.
“My parents recommended studying in Cyprus due to its friendly environment, affordable tuition, and quality education. It was an opportunity I don’t regret accepting.”
Commenting on what pitched her interest into the Pharmacy career, Ayomide said it started with an health related course she took in secondary school. She hesitated at first because she hated direct exposure to open wounds and witnessing patients pain.

Not wanting to stay off her passion, she chose to pursue a career in pharmacy since she can still practice without involving herself with wounds.
‘’During my secondary school education, I had an interest in a health-related course but was hesitant about dealing with open injuries and witnessing patients in pain. Pharmacy seemed like a way to help people while avoiding those situations. I chose to pursue it,’’ she said.
Promise said she experienced various challenges when she first moved to Cyprus, she had difficulty with overcoming the language barrier but she learned Turkish while attending school and this enabled an effective communication.
Another challenge she faced was getting into the university at a very young age. She had difficulty making friends within her age gap but eventually Ayomide found supportive friends who she said contributed to personal growth and academic success.
She commended the Cyprus Nationals for their hospitality and friendliness. She also stated that experience of studying abroad enriched her. She had opportunities to meet individuals from diverse backgrounds, gain exposure to different cultures, and receive an excellent education at Cyprus International University.
“Studying abroad has been a wonderful experience. I have met people from various countries, learned about different cultures, and received an excellent education at Cyprus International University. The university has valuable global partnerships, which even gave me the opportunity to study in Italy,” she said.
Promise attributed her success to the grace of God as she encountered distractions and was discouraged at a point in her studies but she made sure to study hard, steer clear from distractions with the intense desire to make her parents proud
Furthering on, Promise plans to pursue a PhD in Pharmacy driven by her passion for teaching. She also aspires to contribute to the research and development in Nigeria with the vision of establishing a community pharmacy to educate local communities about healthy lifestyles, proper medication usage, and disease prevention.
“I aspire to contribute to research and development in Nigeria, establish a community pharmacy, and educate my community about healthy lifestyles, proper medication usage, and disease prevention,” she said.
