A brilliant Nigerian lady named Modupe Akintan earned a full scholarship to pursue her master’s degree in Computer Science at Stanford University in the United States.
Modupe obtained her bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering at Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti, in Nigeria with a remarkable first-class grade before she moved to the United States for her postgraduate studies.
Her outstanding performance in her undergraduate studies earned a fully funded scholarship from Standford University to study for her master’s degree. Modupe earned a master’s degree in Computer Science, specializing in Computer and Network Security.
Sharing her achievement on Linkedin, Modupe said the journey to earning success was challenging yet exciting because there were times, when it seemed impossible.

Modupe said that despite feeling like an imposter after receiving the opportunity, the support of her friends and family boosted her confidence. She said she is thankful for their presence in her life which helped her believe in herself and her abilities.
She stated that the achievement fills her with immense pride, as the academic journey was one of growth and unforgettable experiences. Modupe went on to highlight all of the adventures and experiences she had at the university.
She mentioned that she had the privilege to work on groundbreaking research at the Stanford Empirical Security Research Group (ESRG) as a member of the MSCS pathway program.
Modupe said she also joined the privacy engineering team at Apple and contributed to projects that had a visible impact on the Apple ecosystem, started learning to play the piano and the process taught her the value of persistence and patience.
She stated that she also served as the Graduate Chairman of the Women in Computer Science which was aimed to build a strong community among female and nonbinary graduate students at Stanford University.
Modupe said she was lucky to also receive an all-expenses-paid scholarship from Stanford to attend the Afrotech Conference twice, where she gained access to amazing events and networking opportunities.
She said the valuable lesson she learned at the university is that it is okay to have multiple interests. She added that seeing others successfully pursue multiple degrees and diverse hobbies helped her embrace her multifaceted journey.
Modupe expressed her gratitude to everyone who has supported her along the way adding that she is excited to see where the journey takes her next as she continues to explore and make an impact in the world.
