A brilliant Nigerian man named Peter Adeyemo has bagged his bachelor’s degree in Physics with a 4.72 cumulative grade point average at the Federal University of Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Nigeria.
Peter obtained the degree with remarkable first-class honors at the Federal University of Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun Nigeria. He took to LinkedIn to celebrate his achievement of completing his undergraduate studies.
He mentioned that the academic journey was filled with challenges but he triumphed over them. ”I’m thrilled to share my undergraduate physics journey, filled with ups and downs, but ultimately leading to triumph!” he said.
Peter said began his academic journey with a grade point average of 4.74 in his first year. However, he encountered difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in a slight decrease in his grade point average to 4.54 out of 5.00 in his second year.

He stated that he questioned his ability to achieve a first-class degree with increasing responsibilities and self-doubt. Peter said he refused to give up but instead summoned courage and determination, achieving 4.95/5.00 and 5.00/5.00 in his junior year.
Peter said his determination further fueled his passion for physics fundamentals like Quantum Mechanics, Electromagnetism, and Analytical Mechanics. He said he pushed harder in his final year and he achieved 4.64 and 5.00, culminating in a grade point of 4.72/5.00 upon graduation.
He said for his final year project, he did a research adventure in computational condensed matter physics, combining deep learning techniques with the Ising model for phase transition predictions.
Peter stated that the journey was not just about academics and he was active in other extracurricular activities. He led a campus church of 80-100 members, where he learned the value of servant leadership and the importance of combining spiritual growth with academic excellence.
Aside from graduating remarkably, he also earned notable accomplishments including winning the PTDF undergraduate scholarship, being the first runner-up, in the intervarsity physics quiz, a member of the Institute of Physics (IOP).
Peter was also awarded the University Senate Prize and was in the Top 1% in the College of Physical Sciences, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta).
He said the academic journey taught him resilience, hard work, and the power of pursuing his passions. Peter stated that he is proud to have overcome obstacles and achieved success in physics, all while deepening his spiritual roots.
Peter stated that he is looking forward to the next chapter of his life and also exciting graduate school opportunities with a specialty in Condensed Matter Physics cum Quantum Materials Science and Engineering.
