Brilliant Nigerian man wins full scholarship to US university, set to bag masters degree

A brilliant Nigerian man named Samuel Ajala has won a fully funded scholarship to study for a masters degree at the Uniuversity of Arkansas in the United States.

Samuel obtained his bachelor’s degree in History and International Relations at the Federal University of Oye Ekiti, Nigeria before he moved to the United States for his postgraduate studies.

He was awarded a fully funded graduate assistantship by the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in the United States, an achievement he shared on his Linkedin. Samuel said he will be studying for a Master of Arts in Communication at the university.

Graduate assistantship allows graduate students to work for their respective college or university and get some amount paid in the form of stipend along with bonus of free tuition.

Samuel stated that the journey of his graduate school application has been filled with rejections, mixed feelings, anxiety, before he recieved the final acceptance mail.

He said he will be focusing his research on environmental and climate communication, particularly using communication and storytelling to promote climate literacy in Nigeria and extensively other parts of Africa.

He said he is grateful to  God, his wife and parent. for their support. Samuel also thanked his community of colleagues and all who have been instrumental in one way or the other to make his dream come true.

Samuel expressed his gratitude to the individual who helped him with his academic CV and graduate application tips and also his editor for providing him with recommendation letters.

He also thanked his graduate coordinator for always replying his emails. Samuel said his story is a testament to the fact that dreams are valid and he looks forward to the amazing experience of research and learning he will be gaining for the next few years.

 

 

In another story, a brilliant Nigerian Economist named Oluwaseun Bamigboye has celebrated becoming the first Female Doctorate (PhD) holder of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, Nigeria.

Dr Oluwaseun Bamigboye became the First Female PhD holder of Federal University Oye Ekiti since it was established in 2011, bagging a Doctor of Philosophy from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension.
