Brilliant Nigerian woman becomes Law Professor at UK university after 10 years of Lecturing in the school

A brilliant Nigerian woman, Foluke Ifejola Adebisi has been awarded a Professorship of Law  at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom after ten years of lecturing in the institution.

Professor Foluke Adebisi who is a law lecturer at the University of Bristol earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLM) from the Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. She proceeded to the Nigerian Law School where she qualified as a Solicitor and Barrister of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

After Law school, Professor Foluke moved to the Lancaster University, Ghana for her Master’s Degree in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. She then started out as a barrister and solicitor in Nigeria in private practice under a SAN.

Professor Foluke said she had always intended to go into academics, she went on to study for her doctorate degree in Law at Lancaster University in Ghana. During her PHD, she started teaching law during at Lancaster University before she moved to University of Bristol to teach there.

Before joining the University of Bristol, she had a background in Legal Practice and NGO work. She is also the founder and director of Forever Africa Conference and Events (FACE). Professor Foluke has published widely about Law, Africa, Pedagogy, and life in general.

The University of Bristol appointed her recently as an associate Professor at their Law School, with her scholarship focusing on decolonial thought in legal education and its intersection with the history of changing ideas of the human.

The Society of Black Academics took to their LinkedIn page to congratulate the latest professor, regarding her as the 61st black female professor in the United Kingdom.
