A brilliant young lady named Layota Charles Williams has won a Chevening scholarship to study for her master’s degree at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.Â
Layota Williams bagged a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Gender and development studies at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. She graduated from the university with first-class honors.
Layota shared her achievement of winning the Chevening scholarship for her master’s degree at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom on her Facebook page.
She mentioned that she will be pursuing a Master of Arts in Gender and Development at the University of Sussex, one of the best university for developmental studies in the the world.

Layota said she is excited to start the journey, stating that it made her reflect on how much she has achieved. She added that she never thought she could receive the scholarship but she is ready for the journey ahead.
She expressed her gratitude to the Chevening Awards organization and the United Kingdom team in Barbados and Eastern Caribbean for entrusting her with the opportunity.
Layota said that she is not only going to be a Chevening scholar but would carry the global mission of gender equality and the advancement of women’s rights forward while in the university.
