Determined 9-month-old pregnant woman graduates from US university, receives her certificate while in labour

A determined 9-month pregnant woman named Anshonarial Greenhouse has managed to walk the stage at her graduation ceremony at Louisiana State University of Alexandria, United States despite having labor contractions.

Greenhouse, a 31-year-old woman from Marksville crossed the stage with a little help from the head baseball coach, who was directing graduates as they walked, to recieve her bachelor’s  degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting.

She started having contractions at 25 weeeks, a week too early foor her to give birth “College takes four years and everyone is plagued with a lot of adversity throughout those years,” Greenhouse said.

“I mean, if I can sit in the hospital and still complete my work for two months, I know that I can at least get through this. Show people that anything can be done,” she added.

Greenhouse spent her final semester completing assignments, speeches and projects virtually from the hospital.

“Professors were very accommodating.I was kind of embarrassed to do my video presentations through YouTube with my hospital gown on, but they told me not worry about it,” she said.

She stated that when it was time, she reached out to a sorority sister who worked at the school to let her know she was walking and in labor.

Greenhouse said her friend helped arrange accommodations for graduation day making sure there was an ambulance outside if she needed it and a wheelchair waiting for her by the stage.

She mentined that she was determined to walk the stage because she wanted to spend the special day with her fellow classmates, one of which was her mother, Elaine Young, who also studied accounting.

Greenhouse was offered the use of a wheelchair to reach the stage, however, she opted not to use it. ”Walking signifies that I really did it,” she said. However, despite making it across the stage and successfully receiving her diploma, later  sat in a wheelchair.

She mentioned that she and her husband had been attempting to have another child for four years since their first child making the pregnancy a special one for them.

She said her husband was initially hesitant about her walking during the graduation ceremony because of her complications. However, she explained to him that it was something she really wanted to do.

After she had recieved her diploma, Greeenhouse  took a seven minute car ride to the hospital, where she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. She said she was happy to have fulfilled her dream.
