AFRICA A young Nigerian woman named Esther Henry has graduated from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Nigeria, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, earning an outstanding cumulative grade point average of 4.64 out of 5.00.
Her exceptional performance made her the best graduating student in both her department and faculty.
Esther's Story and How She Did It
Esther began her academic journey at OOU in 2020 and maintained consistent academic excellence throughout her studies.
By the time she graduated in 2026, she had not only earned a First Class Honours degree but also secured multiple historic achievements within the institution.
Her accomplishments include emerging as the Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Department of Psychology, and being the first female to graduate with a First Class degree in the history of the Psychology Department at OOU.

Esther was also the first female psychology student to emerge as the best graduating student in both the department and faculty. In addition, her 4.64 CGPA stands as the highest ever recorded in the department’s history.
Sharing her achievement on Instagram, Esther expressed deep gratitude to God for guiding her through the journey. She reflected on moments of doubt, struggles, and sacrifices, noting that every challenge strengthened her and prepared her for success.
“Today, I stand as a testament that grace works, resilience pays, and God never fails,” she wrote, adding that consistency and faith carried her through sleepless nights and difficult moments,” she said.
Esther also encouraged others to remain consistent and keep faith, stating that every phase of the journey, including the waiting and silent battles, ultimately contributes to success.
Grateful and fulfilled, she described her graduation not as the end, but the beginning of greater accomplishments ahead.
