AMERICA | A 12-year-old girl gains admission to US university, bags bachelors degree at 16, masters at 18.
A young American girl named Mariannah Harding who gained admission into the university at the age of 12, bagged her bachelor’s degree at the age of 16 and master’s degree at 18-years-old.
Harding recently graduated from Auburn University with a Master of Agriculture in Horticulture with a public horticulture certificate. She is the eighth child in her family to have started undergraduate degree studies at the age of 12.
“I come from a family of 10 children. I’m the eighth. We all homeschooled, which was something my parents decided to do with my oldest sibling when they saw she was really excelling in math,” Harding said.

”By the age of 12, she was doing really well, to the extent that she and my parents decided to dual enroll her at a local university,” she added.
Harding earned her bachelor’s degree online from Bellevue University at age 16. She studied health sciences and had planned to go into medicine like one of her sisters.
However, her lifelong love of gardening and her parents’ reminders to pursue her passions led her to enroll at the College of Agriculture at Auburn University. The master’s program was her first traditional, in-person, educational experience.
“That was honestly one of the things I was really looking forward to. I was really ready for an in-person learning environment. It was different, of course, but I loved it so much,” she said.
Harding said she and her siblings were encouraged by their parents to focus not on grades or academics themselves, but on the pursuit of their interests. “They gave us a passion. And they always were saying, ‘We’ll continue this for our children as long as it works for them and they are comfortable with it,” she said.
She credits her unique education for giving her essential skills including time management, focus, self-discipline, and the ability to prioritize.
Harding stated that she is unsure of her future plans but has a long-term goal of working in flower farming. She added that for now, she is focusing on following God’s guidance.
