AFRICA | A brilliant lady named Grace Ishola has emerged as the Best Graduating Student in Business Administration at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) after earning an outstanding 4.82 cumulative grade point average (CGPA).
Her achievement crowns a remarkable academic journey defined by resilience, discipline, and excellence.
Grace's Story and How She Did It
Grace began her journey at UNILAG in 2019, enrolling to study Business Administration with a clear dream of excelling academically and building a strong future.
Her path, however, was not without delays and challenges. Admission did not come easily, and her journey stretched beyond the usual four years, eventually becoming a six-year academic experience filled with lessons, growth, and perseverance.
Despite these hurdles, Grace remained focused and determined, eventually graduating with First Class Honours, ranking among the top 2% of students in her department, and earning recognition as the Best Graduating Student.
Sharing her story on LinkedIn, she described her journey as one that moved “from dream to distinction.” Grace’s university years were marked not only by academic excellence but also by leadership, service, and professional exposure.
Among her major accomplishments, she emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student in her faculty, represented UNILAG in a Transnational Programme with the University of Iowa, and founded and managed The Achievers Brainstorming Group, where over 90% of members graduated with First Class honours.
Additionally, she completed two internship placements at United Bank for Africa (UBA), gaining practical corporate experience, and served in leadership roles within student associations for two consecutive tenures.
Grace also volunteered for over two years as an ambassador with Asset & Resource Management Holding Company (ARM), supported departmental initiatives, and led a Corporate Social Responsibility project, impacting teenagers through mentorship and outreach programs.
Reflecting on her experience, Grace noted that the delays and challenges she faced eventually became seasons of capacity building, discipline, resilience, and clarity of purpose.
She credits her success to the support of her family, mentors, lecturers, friends, and well-wishers who stood by her throughout the journey.
For Grace, the achievement represents not just academic success but the building of a person grounded in hard work, service, consistency, and intentional growth.
As she looks ahead to future opportunities and impact, Grace urges other students to never give up on their dreams. “If you can dream it, you can make it, and what you see is what you seize,” she said.
