A homeless African man named Peter Bawuah has overcomes his challenges. He won a scholarship to study in the University of Windsor, in Canada and was elected as the student ambassador for International student in the university.
Peter Bawua is from Techimantia village in Ghana. He bagged his bachelor’s degree in Political science from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Peter shared his success story on his LinkedIn page, saying that he was born in a less privileged home facing a lot of challenges and having limited opportunities and luxury as a child.
“I was born and raised in a less privileged home with limited opportunities and education. I remember when I used to sell cassava and plantain to pay for my PTA and examination fee. I have always opined that the pillar of everyone’s destiny is found in their mindset”, he wrote.

After high school, Peter relocated to Accra to further his education. not having any source of income, he had to squat with 11 other people to sleep in a kiosk in Fifi Cantonments-Accra .
Peter said he sold coconut and engaged in some minor jobs to be able to gather his school fees when he got admitted into Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
“I was given a place to stay in a kiosk at Kumoji by one of my friends, Fiifi (Cantomments-Accra). We were around 11 guys in the kiosks, and the space was cramped,” Peter said.

“I spent a few months sleeping on this bench, and throughout that time, I gained a lot of wisdom, knowledge, and inspiration from it. It made me feel humble. God was preparing me. Nothing worthwhile happens without effort. Appreciate your season of mental transformation,” he added.
when Peter graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, he won a scholarship to continue his education in the University of Windsor, Ontario in Canada.
Peter bagged his masters degree in political science and government from the University of Windsor, Ontario in Canada. While in school, Peter was an active student and he was elected as the graduate student representative of the university.
He stated that he was the only African out of the 4 student that contested and the white dominated class elected him in.
“In fact, I contested for Graduate Student Representative, we were 4 and I was the only African. But these white people voted for me. In this position, only a few Africans have won it. I was once hopeless, I used to sleep outside. But God has changed my story,” he said.
now Peter has made an impact for himself in Canada, using his story as a motivation to youth across the world through his foundation ”PeterHills foundation”.
He was recently made the student ambassador of international students in Canada by the Brilliant Minds Group, an organization that helps and cater for the welfare of international students in Canada.
Peter said he was noticed on LinkedIn by the group and was selected to represent Africa students in the organization. Peter is currently a program staff at the Corporation of the City of Windsor.
