AMERICA | 22-year-old homeless lady earns bachelor’s degree with 3.80/4.00GPA despite caring for her brothers alone.
22-year-old, Bianca Jeannot has defied incredible odds to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in English and a certificate in forensic science from the College of New Rochelle in the United States.
Achieving a remarkable 3.89 GPA and earning Cum Laude honors, Bianca’s journey is a testament to her resilience and determination. Bianca’s success did not come easily. Alongside her academic challenges, she held four jobs while being the sole caregiver for her two older brothers.
Her eldest brother, Paul, 34, has stage 4 kidney disease and has been on dialysis for over a decade, while Michael, 26, has Down syndrome and requires constant supervision.

After losing their mother in 2012, Bianca became the primary breadwinner for her family at the age of 18.
Reflecting on her life, she said,” “I don’t know. I can only seek to go forward. I never had the luxury to stop moving. “It’s not much of a burden, It’s a weight that I’m willing to carry and I’ve learned to adjust”.
“Although we’ve suffered, and although we’ve gone through a lot, it’s made me who I am, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. If I can do it, it means that it’s meant for me,” she added.
Bianca’s determination extended beyond academics. Despite her challenging circumstances, she was deeply involved in campus life.
She served in student government, founded and presided over an anime club that won awards for hosting the best events on campus, wrote for multiple campus publications, and was editor-in-chief of the literary and arts magazine Phoenix.
Her hard work also earned her several scholarships, including one that allowed her to study abroad in Europe for three weeks.
Professor Daniel Smith, one of her lecturers, described her as an exceptional student: “She is one of the most energetic, creative, vibrant, and intelligent students I’ve ever had. She is going to have a really bright and wonderful future.”
Bianca’s incredible achievements were accomplished while living in a government-funded apartment, a stark contrast to the years she spent in homeless shelters after her family was uprooted.
Looking ahead, Bianca hopes to pursue a career in animal welfare, driven by her love for animals.
