A brilliant Nigerian lady, Motunrayo Fatoke, has achieved remarkable academic success after earning a Master’s degree with honors from George Washington University in the United States.
Her achievement was made possible through a fully funded scholarship, one of the multiple international scholarship opportunities she secured to study in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
Motunrayo’s journey reflects academic excellence, determination, resilience, and a commitment to creating impact through education and public service.
Motunrayo's Story and How She Did It
Her journey into international success story began in Nigeria at University of Ibadan, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counselling with honors.
During her undergraduate years, she distinguished herself academically and built the strong foundation that later opened doors to global opportunities.
Following her undergraduate studies, Motunrayo applied for several international postgraduate opportunities and achieved an extraordinary milestone by securing three major scholarship offers from prestigious universities in the United Kingdom and the United States.
Among the offers was admission into University of Cambridge to study for an MPhil in Education, Globalization, and International Development.

Motunrayo also gained admission into University of Bristol for a Master of Science degree in Education, Policy, and International Development.
In addition, she secured admission and a fully funded opportunity at George Washington University’s Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration in the United States.
After carefully considering the opportunities, Motunrayo chose George Washington University, where she enrolled in 2024 to study for a Master’s degree in Public Policy.
Through the fully funded graduate assistantship, she was able to study while also gaining professional and academic experience within the university community.
During her time in the United States, Motunrayo remained deeply involved in leadership, policy engagement, civic service, and international development initiatives.
Beyond classroom learning, she participated in several impactful programs and fellowships that strengthened her expertise in public policy, digital governance, and public service.
She served as a Graduate Student Assistant at the GW Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service, participated in the UNA-NCA five-month fellowship program and received the Johanna M. Peters Endowed Tuition Scholarship in recognition of her academic excellence.
As part of her professional experience, Motunrayo interned at the Family Online Safety Institute as a Digital Safety Policy Intern, where she contributed to policy discussions, digital governance conversations, and public policy advocacy related to online safety.
Motunrayo’s outstanding contributions and involvement within the university community also earned her the Trachtenberg School Excellence in Student Life Award.
Additionally, she became a Globally Public Policy New Voices Fellow and a Vital Voices Global Partnership Rising Fellow, where she organized a technology education workshop focused on digital safety and technology awareness.
Now, after completing her Master’s degree with honors in 2026, Motunrayo reflects on the journey as one that shaped both her professional and personal growth.
Sharing her achievement on LinkedIn, she explained that the past two years gave her not only academic knowledge and policy skills, but also experiences that strengthened her passion for public service, technology governance, and empowering others through opportunities.
She expressed gratitude for every opportunity, mentorship, fellowship, scholarship, and professional experience that contributed to her journey.
Motunrayo also noted that she remains grounded in faith, quoting a bible verse as she prepares for the next chapter of her career and impact journey.
”The journey is only beginning from here, and I continue to anchor myself in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” she said.
