The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the timeline for the 2026 UTME and Direct Entry registration.

What You Need Before JAMB Registration 2026
JAMB registration is compulsory for anyone seeking admission in Nigeria, so without completing this process correctly, you cannot be considered for admission, regardless of your O’Level results.
That is why JAMB strongly advises candidates to prepare early, verify all details, and follow official procedures strictly. Before starting your JAMB registration 2026, ensure you have the following ready:
1. National Identification Number (NIN)
Having a NIN is mandatory for all UTME and Direct Entry candidates. If you do not have one yet, visit any approved NIMC enrolment centre to secure one.
Most importantly, ensure your biodata (name, date of birth, gender) is correct. Any mismatch between NIMC and JAMB records can cause serious issues.
2. Registered Phone Number for Profile Code
You cannot generate your profile code without your NIN and your phone number, so you must have your NIN first. Ensure to use a personal, active phone number.
This number is where you will get all JAMB SMS updates, and the phone number cannot be changed later, so choose carefully.
3. A Functional Email Address
An email address is compulsory during JAMB registration because it serves as a backup if you lose access to your phone number. Gmail.com is recommended because it is reliable and easy to recover.
4. Decide on the Course You Want to Study
If you have not decided on your course by now, then you should not start your registration yet. Choose a course you are genuinely interested in, and when doing that, you must consider your academic strengths.

Age Requirement for JAMB Registration 2026
According to JAMB, candidates must be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026.
Moreover, underage candidates may undergo a special evaluation. To qualify for a waiver, such candidates must score at least 80% in UTME or A’Level, Post UTME, SSCE, and an exceptional candidate assessment, which may be conducted.
If you do not go through this evaluation, or if you are below that age, your result will be withheld.
Minimum Admission Requirements
For Degree Programmes
- Minimum of five (5) O-Level credit passes, which must include English Language
- Mathematics is compulsory for Science, Technology, and Social Sciences
- To be admitted into a university, you must not have more than two sittings.
For ND/NCE
- Minimum of four (4) credit passes
- English is required for non-science courses
- Mathematics is required for science courses
How to Register for JAMB 2026 (Step-by-Step)
Once you have your NIN and every other document ready, follow these steps carefully for your JAMB registration:
1. Create Your JAMB Profile
Visit the official JAMB portal: www.jamb.gov.ng. Then, create a profile using your NIN, email address, and phone number

2. Confirm Your Profile Code
After you have sent your NIN and phone number to the number, a confirmation code will be sent via SMS and email.
Once generated, your profile code cannot be changed. Biodata is automatically retrieved from NIMC. So if you make any mistake, you can only correct it through a formal re-query process (TEMPL007).
And any replaced data will appear as a footnote on your profile, which is why confirming your NIMC details early is very important, and you must do this process carefully.
3. Purchase Your JAMB e-PIN
This is usually within the range of ₦3,500, and you can only use it once. The JAMB e-PIN should only be bought from authorized outlets such as banks, online platforms, USSD codes, and approved CBT centres
4. Visit an Approved CBT Centre
JAMB-approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for the 2026 registration are located nationwide, primarily within accredited tertiary institutions, JAMB state offices, and specialized ICT centres.
When going, make sure you hold your e-PIN, NIN, O-Level results, and Passport photograph. Additionally, at the centre:
