Popular American comedian and actor Katt Williams has achieved a remarkable milestone, earning a Doctor of Humane Letters, awarded by Miles College in Alabama.
The recognition celebrates his outstanding contributions to the arts, leadership, and cultural influence, and his growing efforts to invest in creative and educational development within historically Black institutions.
The honorary degree was conferred during a special ceremony at the Birmingham-area HBCU, where Williams was honored not just for his brilliance in entertainment but for his commitment to advancing opportunities for Black students through his expanding business ventures.

Standing before a packed auditorium of students, faculty, and alumni, Williams accepted the honorary degree with his characteristic wit and humility.
“It was going to take a mighty fine institution to recognize that. I serve a God that insists my cup runneth over. And those smiles that I sell for a living — those have Miles right in the middle of it,” he said.
His words earned a standing ovation from the audience, many of whom have admired how the comedian uses his platform to mix humor with social consciousness.

William’s achievement is even more significant because his collaboration with Miles College is tied to his new film studio project in Alabama.
The project aims to transform the area into a hub for film production, creative training, and technology-driven storytelling, directly benefiting Miles College students who will gain hands-on experience in film, media, and entrepreneurship.
According to Miles College President Bobbie Knight, the partnership represents a new era for HBCUs.
“Our students deserve access to real industry experiences. Partnerships like this show what happens when HBCUs are at the center of innovation and creativity,” Knight said.
Through this initiative, the institution plans to develop curricula that integrate entertainment, artificial intelligence, and digital production, giving students a competitive edge in the evolving creative economy.
Although best known for his sharp humor and bold stage persona, Katt Williams’ journey reveals a lifelong connection to learning. In earlier interviews, the comedian stated that he had a high IQ, began reading at the age of three, and was accepted into college by the age of 7.
Between the ages of eight and twelve, he reportedly read over 3,000 nonfiction books annually, many in multiple languages, a habit that sharpened his intellect and helped him develop the rich cultural insight that defines his comedy today.
