AMERICA | A brilliant young Lady named Chanel Imani Hendricks has shown that childhood dreams do come true after achieving her lifelong goal of becoming a nurse.
Chanel graduated cum laude from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, overcoming numerous challenges along the way. She took to Instagram to share her achievement.
“For every dark night, there’s always a brighter day. During nursing school, I faced many dark nights, but the brighter day is finally here,” she said.
Despite the difficulties she encountered, Chanel’s hard work and perseverance paid off, as she graduated Cum Laude, secured a full-ride scholarship that left her debt-free, and obtained a full-time job right after graduation.

Throughout her nursing program, Chanel was an active member of two prestigious sororities: Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. She held several leadership roles, including Dean of Membership and Historian for Chi Eta Phi.
Reflecting on her experience, Chanel thanked her sorority sisters for their unwavering support throughout her academic journey.
“One of the greatest gifts PV has given me are my sisters. Going through nursing school was one of the hardest things I’ve done, but anything is possible with the love and support from those around you,” Chanel said.
”My journey with Delta has only begun, and I will always be a woman of high esteem, forever adorned in crimson and cream,” she added.
Chanel said her final semester was particularly challenging. Just two weeks before her graduation, she was involved in a car accident that totaled her car and injured her spine. Despite the setback, she remained determined, completed her studies, and graduated successfully.
“I still can’t believe how God has worked in my life. My wildest dream has come true! Since I was 10 years old, watching my little brother fight in the NICU and later learning about my own struggle as a NICU baby, I knew God called me to care for his weakest, smallest children,” she said.
After graduation, Chanel passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and is now a certified Registered Nurse (RN). She expressed her excitement for the future. “This is only the beginning of my story, so stay tuned for the next chapter,” she said.
As she embarks on her nursing career, Chanel vows to continue her service to humanity and uphold the principles of her sorority. “I am grateful for the bonds and relationships I’ve built. I promise to carry on the lessons I’ve learned and to give back through service and compassion,” she said.
