AFRICA | A brilliant African lady named Aloyo Sarah has emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student in the Humanities at Makerere University, earning an outstanding CGPA of 4.93 out of 5.00 in Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
Her achievement places her at the very top of her cohort and stands as a testament not only to academic excellence but also to leadership, service, and impact.
Sarah's Story and How She Did It
Sarah began her degree in 2022 and, over the course of four years, consistently maintained exceptional academic performance. By the end of her studies, she graduated with the highest distinction in her class.
But her university experience was about more than grades.“This achievement reflects how I dedicated my campus life to leadership, service, and impact, creating opportunities for students, empowering communities, and driving initiatives that made a difference,” she shared on LinkedIn.
Throughout her time at university, she balanced academics with active involvement in student leadership and community initiatives, proving that it is possible to excel in the classroom while making meaningful contributions beyond it.

Standing before over 9,000 students at her graduation ceremony, Sarah described receiving the award as a moment she will never forget.
“In that instant, I felt nothing but gratitude to my mentors who guided me, the faculty who sharpened me, my family who believed in me, and everyone who saw my potential even in quiet seasons,” she shared.
For her, the recognition represents more than personal success. “This recognition is not mine alone. It belongs to everyone who poured into my journey and to every dreamer who refuses to give up,” she added.
Holding the plaque symbolized something deeper for Sarah. It reminded her of children in rural communities who dream of education but face limited resources and financial hardship.
“I carry this honour not just as an achievement, but as a responsibility,” she said. “A responsibility to use my voice, my education, and my journey to advocate for access to education — especially for children whose brilliance is hidden by circumstance.”
For Sarah, this milestone is not the finish line but a launchpad. She is looking forward to more success with a more disciplined mind and a renewed vision.
“This is not the end; it is the beginning,” she said. “I step forward humbled by the journey and ready to bring the same energy, discipline, and vision into global supply chains, procurement leadership, and social impact initiatives.”
She advised every child born in a modest environment to continue dreaming big and never should they let their society define them. “To every child with a dream: your environment does not define your destiny. Believe, persist, and rise,” Sarah said.
