AFRICA | A determined Lady who got pregnant at 18 defies odds to earn university degree, bags bachelors at 22, masters at 24.
A determined young woman from South Africa, Bri Elize, has defied the odds to earn a university education after becoming a mother at a young age. Bri became pregnant at 17 and gave birth at 18, but she refused to let her circumstances hold her back.
Despite the challenges, Bri earned her Associate’s degree at the age of 20, followed by a Bachelor’s degree at 22. She recently graduated with a Master of Science degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio, achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average at the age of 24.
Sharing her story on Instagram, Bri wrote: “Pregnant @ 17, Mom @ 18, Associate’s @ 20, Bachelor’s @ 22, Master’s @ 24. Four semesters later, 4.0 GPA. I risked it all, and by the grace of God, I made it.”

Bri expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported her along the way. She shared that her biggest motivation came from her desire to help others and her dream of teaching at a community college.
She said the birth of her daughter, Maci, gave her a renewed sense of purpose, inspiring her to work harder than ever before. ” I never felt so motivated until I had my baby girl Maci or to make my parents more proud after having her,” she said.
Bri concluded by thanking her parents, family, friends from high school, her university community, and especially her daughter, Maci, for their love and support throughout her journey.
In a similar story, a determined lady named Chukwuma Blessing who got pregnant and gave birth while studying has bagged a Computer Science degree with first-class honors at the Federal University of Technology, Nigeria.
Blessing obtained her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with first-class honors at the Federal University of Technology Akure Nigeria. Narrating her story on Twitter, she stated that she got pregnant in her second year at the university.
She stated that she got no financial support from her parents or family but with determination and hard work, she was able to graduate with a first-class honors grade. Blessing said though her journey was challenging it was worth it in the end. Read more about Blessing HERE.
